Core

  • Year 7 students follow the White Rose Maths scheme, where they develop a strong foundation in key mathematical areas. They explore numbers, including integers, decimals, and fractions, and learn to solve linear equations and work with algebraic expressions. Students also delve into geometry, studying shapes, angles, perimeter, area, and volume. Additionally, they gain skills in interpreting data and understanding probability. Our comprehensive approach ensures students build confidence and proficiency in maths, preparing them for future academic success.

  • Year 7 students follow the Collins KS3 Science curriculum, engaging in a comprehensive introduction to the key scientific disciplines. They explore the fundamentals of biology, including cells, human body systems, and ecosystems. In chemistry, students learn about particles, elements, compounds, and the basics of chemical reactions. Physics lessons cover forces, energy, and the basics of waves and electricity. Our engaging and hands-on approach ensures students develop a solid understanding of scientific principles and foster a love for science.

Additional Subjects

  • At our school, Year 7 students engage with Hodder Education's "Expanding Worlds" curriculum, which covers the early modern period to the industrial revolution. They explore significant global events, cultural changes, and the interconnectedness of historical events, laying a strong foundation in historical knowledge and understanding.

  • At our school, Year 7 students begin their geographical journey with Hodder Education's "Progress in Geography" curriculum. They cover foundational topics such as physical geography, human geography, and geographical skills. The curriculum emphasises understanding places, environments, and the processes that create geographical patterns. Students engage in map skills, weather and climate studies, and the exploration of different ecosystems, laying a solid groundwork for their geographical education.

  • In Year 7, our students dive into the basics of computing with the Teach Computing curriculum. They start with "Clear messaging in digital media," where they learn to communicate effectively using digital tools. They explore how networks function, from simple signaling systems to the Internet. Students are introduced to programming with Scratch, beginning with fundamental concepts and advancing to more complex tasks. They also learn to model data using spreadsheets and gain skills in using media to support causes. This foundational year sets the stage for further exploration and skill development in computing.
